Corbett Gardens Conservation Management Plan
Corbett Gardens is close to Bowral’s CBD and is much loved by the local community. Council is seeking changes to the gardens and asked Phillips Marler to prepare a Conservation Management Plan to research the history of the site, assess cultural significance and prepare conservation policy for the parks’ future.
Corbett Gardens was established in 1913 through the efforts of local people led by Ada Corbett to create a public park from disused farmland and is an early example of community activism for public open space.
Corbett Gardens has always been highly significant to the local community and since the early 1960s has become the site for the annual Tulip Time Festival, a significant event in the park’s history.
The research from the Conservation Management Plan will inform the Masterplan stage of the project which Phillips Marler has also been engaged to carry out.
